First of all, I'd like to wish you
all an excellent year 2024, lots of happiness, good vibes and why not
music, and a good health (the
best possible one) !!!
I had the great pleasure of meeting him at SPAH the 60th in Saint-Louis
this year, also amused by his blue beard, which for a Frenchman evokes
a famous tale by Charles
Perrault written in 1697:
Elihú Barba Azul is an excellent Mexican
harmonica player, far much friendlier and far more approachable than
the hero of the fairy tale "Bluebeard".
As for the other anecdote, I was all the happier to come across a
Mexican harmonica player in the first place because the present page of
this site was born at the urging of a Mexican harmonica player who sent
me several messages a little over 20 years ago to encourage me not to
concentrate my site on harmonica in the French-speaking parts of the
world, but to open it up to the whole world! The story doesn't say
whether the harmonica player in question was Elihú...in any case, I
consider that the Mexican at the time strongly encouraged me and even
convinced me that I could make my small contribution to the harmonica
community, and I thank him again.
Regarding "Elihú Barba Azul",
I'd like to highlight a short video of him sharing the stage with
cellists.
This guy is really nice and humble...
